Belfast Giants Sponsorship

In the year 2000 the Belfast Giants took the entire country by storm. It was the start of a new millennium and a new time of peace. Northern Ireland was developing like never before and locals were looking for something new and the “Belfast Giants” did just that.

SSE Arena Belfast opened its doors in 2000 with the first Belfast Giants game against Ayr Scottish Eagles in front of a sell-out crowd of 7,000 fans. They didn’t win their first game however they did win the hearts of an entire nation and kicked started the ice hockey phenomenon in Northern Ireland. Newly named the Stena Line Belfast Giants have become unbeatable at home games due to the atmosphere and sell-out crowds at the SSE Arena. Belfast Giants play at the SSE Arena most weekends during their ice hockey season.

Over the past 16 years the Belfast Giants have successfully participated in many championships such as Super League Champions, Playoff Champions, Elite League Champions and Erhardt Conference Champions.

2015 seen the first ever Friendship Four Tournament taking place in Belfast at the SSE Arena. Four top universities from prestigious NCAA played in Belfast’s first major college ice hockey tournament which took place over Thanksgiving weekend. It was a world first for the NCAA as they have never had any competitive games outside of the USA. The four-team tournament attracted visitors across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, GB and America. This event is due to return to Belfast over Thanksgiving weekend again this year on 25th & 26th November.

Clayton Hotel Belfast is very proud to sponsor the “Stena Line Belfast Giants” for the past few years and are looking forward to developing this partnership in the future.

Clayton Hotel Belfast is just a 6 minute drive to the SSE Arena, home ground of the Stena Line Belfast Giants.
